What is Augmentin (amoxicillin/clavulanate)?

Augmentin (awg men tn) is a combination antibiotic that contains amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. It is an oral prescription medication that can treat bacterial infections, including ear infections (acute otitis media), sinusitis, lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and skin infections. Augmentin does not treat infections caused by viruses. Using antibiotics indiscriminately can increase your risk of developing infections in the future that are resistant to antibiotic treatment.

Augmentin may have other uses - your healthcare professionals can give you further information and medical advice.

Who can take Augmentin (amoxicillin/clavulanate)?

Augmentin can be prescribed to adults and children. The dose varies according to the patient’s age and body weight and the type of infection being treated.
