Baclofen (Ozobax) tips from pharmacists

  • Let your healthcare provider know if the current dose of baclofen is not helping your muscle symptoms. Do not increase the dose by yourself.

  • If you have been taking baclofen for a long time, do not discontinue this medication abruptly. Your physician will taper the dose down slowly to avoid withdrawal symptoms.

  • Do not drive or operate hazardous machinery that requires muscle tone for safe movement and balance.

  • Keep a complete list of your medications, including prescription drugs and over-the-counter products, as baclofen can cause breathing problems if being taken with opioid pain medications, anti-anxiety medications, and sleeping pills.

  • Do not drink alcohol or use illicit drugs, as they can worsen the side effects of baclofen.

  • If you or your child is taking the liquid form of baclofen, use an oral syringe for the most accurate dosing.
