How To Use Clotrimazole-Betamethasone

Clotrimazole and betamethasone come in the form of a cream and lotion for application to the skin. Gently massage a thin layer of the medicine into the affected areas twice a day, morning and evening. Tell your doctor if you do not notice any clinical improvement in your symptoms after one week (for jock itch and ringworm) or two weeks (for athlete’s foot).

Read the prescription label carefully and use the lotion or cream sparingly, as advised. Do not use more of the product or use it more often than prescribed. Continue using the medication for the prescribed treatment duration even if your symptoms are gone.

Do not use this medication for more than 2 weeks (for jock itch and ringworm) or more than 4 weeks (for athlete’s foot) without your doctor’s approval. Also, make sure you do not use more than the recommended maximum human dose (45 grams in one week).

Do not cover the treated skin area with an occlusive (non-permeable) dressing, bandage, or wrap. Use of an occlusive dressing can increase your risk of serious side effects.

Missed dose: If you miss an application of clotrimazole and betamethasone, use the medicine as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed application and use the medicine according to your regular schedule. Do not apply extra medicine to make up for a missed application.

Storage: Store clotrimazole and betamethasone at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in its original container. Do not store medications in the bathroom where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.

Unused medicine: Unused clotrimazole and betamethasone should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot get to them. Do not throw clotrimazole and betamethasone in the trash or flush it down the toilet. The best way to properly discard expired or unneeded clotrimazole and betamethasone is through a drug take-back program or your local waste disposal company.
