Clotrimazole Tips from Pharmacists

  • Wash and thoroughly dry the affected skin area before applying clotrimazole.

  • Use clotrimazole for 2-4 weeks as recommended on the package. Call your doctor if your symptoms do not completely disappear after 2-4 weeks of using clotrimazole.

  • Stop using clotrimazole and tell your doctor if you experience skin irritation.

  • If you have athlete’s foot, wear well-fitting shoes that allow air to circulate and change your socks daily.

  • The brand name Lotrimin AF is available as Athlete’s Foot Cream, Ringworm Cream, and Jock Itch Cream. Be sure to use the appropriate product for your condition. Although they contain the same medicine, the packages have different instructions for use for each condition.

  • Do not use clotrimazole in children younger than 2 years of age without talking to a healthcare provider.
