Clotrimazole Side Effects

Topical clotrimazole is well tolerated by most people. There are no common side effects from topical clotrimazole. However, clotrimazole can sometimes cause an unusual or allergic reaction. Stop using clotrimazole and call your doctor if you develop redness, swelling, stinging, blistering, peeling, itching, burning, hives, or cracks in the skin. Seek emergency medical attention if you develop difficulty breathing or swallowing.

The above list may not include all the potential side effects of clotrimazole. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. Contact your healthcare provider if your side effects are unusual or severe or if they do not get better over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Clotrimazole Overdose: If you accidentally swallow clotrimazole, call your doctor immediately, call the local poison control center, or call the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
