Side Effects


What are fenofibrate side effects?

Common side effects of fenofibrate are listed below. Please call your doctor if these side effects are severe or do not go away after a few days

  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Heartburn
  • Headache
  • Joint pain
  • Back pain
  • Arm or leg pain

Rarely, fenofibrate can cause some very serious side effects. Please call your doctor right away if you experience:

  • Trouble breathing, chest pain, pain with breathing, coughing up blood
  • Difficulty swallowing, swelling of the throat, tongue, lips
  • Unexplained muscle pain 
  • Unusual tiredness or weakness
  • Fever, rash, hives
  • Dark urine, changes in urination
  • Peeling or blistering of the skin
  • Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, especially in the right upper part of the abdomen
  • Pain, tenderness, redness, swelling in one leg
