Irbesartan (Avapro) Side Effects

Possible side effects of irbesartan are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they are severe or do not go away after a few days.

  • Heartburn
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue

Rarely, irbesartan can cause more serious side effects. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you develop:

  • An unusual or allergic reaction with skin rash, hives, itching, or blistering
  • Swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, throat, hands, lower legs, ankles, or feet
  • Hoarseness
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Chest pain

Irbesartan (Avapro) Overdose: In case of an overdose of irbesartan, call your doctor immediately. You can also call the local poison control center or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 if a person cannot be awakened, has trouble breathing, has collapsed, or has had a seizure. Overdose symptoms may include a fast or slow heartbeat, dizziness, and fainting.
