Lovastatin Side Effects

Possible side effects of lovastatin are listed below. Tell your doctor if these side effects are severe or persistent.

• Constipation
• Confusion
• Forgetfulness or memory loss

Lovastatin can also cause more serious side effects that require immediate medical attention. Call your doctor without delay or seek emergency medical care if you develop symptoms such as:

• Unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness
• Low energy, weakness, or extreme fatigue
• Nausea
• Loss of appetite
• Pain in the right upper abdomen
• Yellowing of the skin or eyes
• Dark urine
• Flu-like symptoms
• Unusual bleeding or bruising
• Skin rash, hives, itching (unusual or allergic reaction)
• Allergic reactions with swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, throat, hands, lower legs, ankles, or feet
• Difficulty breathing or swallowing
• Hoarseness

Lovastatin Overdose: In case of an overdose of lovastatin, call your doctor immediately. You can also call the National Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If a person cannot be awakened, has trouble breathing, has collapsed, or has had a seizure, call 911.
