Olmesartan Side Effects

Olmesartan is generally well tolerated, and the side effects are similar to placebo-treated patients. Possible side effects of olmesartan are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice if they are severe or persist after a few days:

  • Dizziness
  • Back pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Headache
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Joint pain, stiffness, or swelling

Some of the adverse reactions of olmesartan are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical help if you develop:

  • An allergic reaction with swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, throat, hands, lower legs, ankles, or feet
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Chest pain
  • Hoarseness
  • Severe diarrhea
  • Weight loss
  • Muscle weakness

Olmesartan Overdose: In case of an overdose of olmesartan, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center, provincial poison control center, or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Overdose symptoms may include dizziness, fainting, and a fast or slow heartbeat.
