Therapeutic Uses:

  • To lower low density lipoprotein (LDL or bad cholesterol) and triglycerides and to raise high density lipoprotein (HDL or good cholesterol) in patients with cholesterol problems like primary hyperlipidemia, mixed dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia, primary dysbetalipoproteinemia (type III hyperlipoproteinemia), and familial hypercholesterolemia (heterozygous and homozygous).
  • To lower the risk of heart attack and stroke.
  • To lower the need for heart surgery in people with heart disease.
