Bisoprolol and Hydrochlorothiazide Side Effects

Possible side effects of bisoprolol and hydrochlorothiazide are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice if they are severe or do not go away in a few days.

  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Insomnia
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea 
  • Muscle pain
  • Cough, sore throat, runny nose, and other symptoms of an upper respiratory infection
  • Loss of libido (sex drive)

Some of the adverse effects of bisoprolol and hydrochlorothiazide are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you develop the following serious symptoms:

  • A severe skin reaction with skin pain, rash, hives, and itching
  • An allergic reaction with difficulty breathing or swelling of the mouth, tongue, or throat
  • Symptoms of heart failure such as sudden weight gain, difficulty breathing, chest pain, fatigue, swelling in the lower legs, ankles, and feet
  • Symptoms of bronchospasm such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing, dizziness, and extreme fatigue
  • Symptoms of a heart attack such as sweating, fatigue, lightheadedness, and worsening chest pain spreading to the shoulders, arm, or jaw

Bisoprolol and hydrochlorothiazide Overdose: In case of an overdose of bisoprolol and hydrochlorothiazide, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center, provincial poison control center, or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Overdose symptoms may include a very slow heartbeat, low blood pressure, difficulty breathing, lethargy, delirium, seizures, and coma.
