Celecoxib Tips from Pharmacists

  • You can take celecoxib with or without food. Doses over 200 mg should be taken with food. If you experience stomach upset, taking Celebrex (celecoxib) with food or milk might help.

  • Take your celecoxib tablet at around the same time every day. This will help you remember to take your medicine.

  • You can sprinkle the contents of a Celebrex capsule on some applesauce if you have trouble swallowing the capsules whole. You can pre-prepare the applesauce-celecoxib mixture and store it in the refrigerator for up to 6 hours.

  • If you take daily low-dose aspirin or blood thinners, talk to your healthcare provider about the safety of taking celecoxib. Taking these medicines together can increase your risk of stomach bleeding.

  • People who are allergic to aspirin, other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and sulfa drugs are at a higher risk of having an allergic reaction to celecoxib. Tell your healthcare provider if you have any medication allergies.
