Directions

How should I take Chlorhexidine?

Chlorhexidine comes in the form of a mouthwash. The recommended use is twice a day, morning and evening, after brushing your teeth. You should take 15 mL (one capful) of undiluted chlorhexidine and rinse your mouth for 30 seconds. Following this, do not rinse with water or other dental products, do not brush your teeth and do not eat something immediately after using chlorhexidine. You should not swallow chlorhexidine. It should be spit out after oral rinsing.

Missed dose: If you forget to use chlorhexidine, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and use it at the next scheduled time. Do not use it twice to make up for a missed dose.

Storage: Store chlorhexidine in a tightly closed container at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light. Keep all medications out of reach of children and pets.

Unused medicine: Throw away any expired or unused chlorhexidine. Do not flush the medicine down the toilet. The best way to dispose of medicines is through your local waste disposal company or a medication take-back program. Learn more about proper medication disposal
