Dutasteride (Avodart) Side Effects

Possible side effects of dutasteride are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they are severe or continue after your body adjusts to the medicine.

  • Sexual problems, including erectile dysfunction (inability to get or maintain an erection) and ejaculation difficulties
  • Sexual dysfunction, including decreased libido (sex drive)

Dutasteride can also cause more serious side effects. Call your doctor right away or seek immediate medical attention if you develop the following serious symptoms:

  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
  • Serious skin reactions with rash, hives, itching, or peeling
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Breast tenderness, breast pain, breast swelling, lumps, or nipple discharge

The above list may not include all the potential side effects of dutasteride. Call your doctor if the side effects are unusual, severe, or persistent. You can also report an unusual or allergic reaction to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Dutasteride (Avodart) Overdose: In case of an overdose, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center, provincial poison control center, or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 if someone has lost consciousness, collapsed, stopped breathing, or had a seizure.
