Therapeutic Uses:

  • Lower the risk of blood clots in people with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat not caused by heart valve disease).
  • To prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) (blood clot in the leg) and pulmonary embolism (PE) (blood clot in the lung) in people having hip and knee replacement surgery.
  • To treat and prevent blood clots in people with a history of recurrent DVT and PE.
