Allegra Pros and Cons

  • Allegra effectively treats symptoms of seasonal allergies, urticaria, and chronic idiopathic urticaria.
  • It causes less sleepiness than other antihistamines such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine).
  • In addition to regular tablets, Allegra is available as a dissolvable tablet and liquid for children and adults who have trouble swallowing pills.
  • You only need to take Allegra 1-2 times a day.
  • Unlike other antihistamines (pseudoephedrine and diphenhydramine) which can cause false test results on drug tests, Allegra has not been reported to do this. However, you should tell laboratory personnel you are on Allegra.
