FreeStyle Libre 2 Tips from Pharmacists

  • Continue taking your diabetes medications and follow your doctor’s diet advice. FreeStyle Libre 2 measures blood glucose and does not help in diabetes control.

  • Match symptoms or expectations to the readings you obtain from FreeStyle Libre 2 or FreeStyle Libre 3 app. If they are different, check a fingerstick blood glucose level and call your doctor.

  • Replace the sensor every 14 days. Also, apply a new sensor if the old one becomes loose before the 14 days are up.

  • Apply a new sensor to an area of skin that is slightly away from the most recent application site to prevent skin irritation.

  • Readings are not available during a 1-hour warm-up period after you apply a new sensor.

  • You should know that the sensor and reader may not work in extreme hot or cold temperatures.
