Guaifenesin (gwye-fen-eh-sin) is an over-the-counter expectorant which is used to treat chest congestion.

Guaifenesin Age Range

Guaifenesin is approved for use in adults and children 4 years of age and older. The extended-release tablet is approved for use in adults and children 12 years of age and older. This medicine is not safe for very young children.
