Hydroquinone (Blanche) Tips from Pharmacists

  • Wash your hands well before and after applying hydroquinone.

  • Wash your face with a mild cleanser, pat it dry, and apply a small amount of hydroquinone cream to the affected area. Massage the cream gently until it is no longer visible.

  • Do not use this medicine near the eyes, nose, mouth, or lips.

  • Do not cover the treated area with an occlusive dressing.

  • While using hydroquinone, avoid using skincare products that can irritate your skin such as scrubs or peels.

  • Do not use hydroquinone if you have a sunburn or otherwise irritated or damaged skin. Wait until your skin heals.

  • Avoid exposure to sunlight, UV lamps or tanning beds, and wind and cold during hydroquinone treatment. Use SPF 30 or higher sunscreen and wear protective clothing if sun exposure is unavoidable.
