Mupirocin Uses

Mupirocin (also called pseudomonic acid) is used to treat impetigo, a mild skin infection. It is also used to treat other secondary skin infections caused by bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes.

Mupirocin Mechanism of Action

Mupirocin ointment has a unique chemical structure and antibacterial activity. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which causes the bacteria to die.
