Olmesartan Hydrochlorothiazide (Benicar HCT) Side Effects

Possible side effects of olmesartan hydrochlorothiazide are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice if they are severe or persist after a few days.

  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Headache 

Some of the adverse effects of olmesartan hydrochlorothiazide are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you develop the following symptoms:

  • Skin rash, hives, itching, blistering, peeling (signs of an allergic reaction)
  • Swelling of the eyes, face, lips, mouth, throat, hands, lower legs, ankles, or feet
  • Chest pain
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Hoarseness
  • Severe diarrhea
  • Signs of dehydration (fluid or electrolyte imbalance), such as excessive thirst, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, muscle pain, muscle weakness, muscle cramps, unusual tiredness, restlessness, confusion, fast heartbeat
  • Signs of infection (fever, chills, sore throat, cough)
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising
  • Joint pain or joint swelling
  • Stomach pain that spreads to the back
  • Eye pain, swelling, or changes in vision

Olmesartan hydrochlorothiazide (Benicar HCT) Overdose: In case of an overdose of olmesartan hydrochlorothiazide, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If a person has trouble breathing, has collapsed, is unresponsive, or has had a seizure, call 911 or emergency medical services.
