Pioglitazone Side Effects

Possible side effects of pioglitazone are listed below. Call your doctor if the adverse effects are severe or persist after a few days.

  • Headache
  • Gas
  • Sore throat
  • Muscle pain
  • Arm or leg pain

Some of the adverse effects of pioglitazone are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you develop the following symptoms:

  • Allergic reactions (skin rash, hives, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing)
  • Vision loss or changes in vision, such as blurred vision
  • Difficulty with urination
  • Frequent or painful urination
  • Bloody, cloudy, or discolored urine
  • Sudden unusual pain in the stomach or back
