Potassium Citrate ER (Urocit-K) Side Effects

Possible side effects of potassium citrate ER are listed below. Call your doctor if these adverse effects are severe or do not go away in a few days.

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Loose bowel movements
  • Stomach discomfort

Rarely can potassium citrate ER cause some very serious side effects. Stop taking the medicine and call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you develop the following serious symptoms:

  • Signs and symptoms of allergic reactions such as skin rash, hives, itching
  • Swelling of the eyes, face, lips, tongue, or throat
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Chest pain or discomfort
  • Severe dizziness

Potassium citrate ER (Urocit-K) Overdose: In case of an overdose, seek immediate medical attention. If a person has trouble breathing, cannot be awakened, is not responding, or has had a seizure, call 911.
