Prazosin (Minipress) Side Effects

Possible side effects of prazosin are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they are severe or continue after your body adjusts to the medicine.

  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Tiredness
  • Weakness
  • Dry mouth

Rarely, prazosin can cause more serious side effects. Call your doctor right away or seek immediate medical assistance if you develop:

  • Skin rash, hives, itching
  • Trouble breathing
  • Chest pain
  • Rapid, irregular, or pounding heartbeat
  • Painful or prolonged erection

Prazosin (Minipress) Overdose: In case of an overdose, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 if someone has lost consciousness, collapsed, stopped breathing, or had a seizure. Signs and symptoms of an overdose may include drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and decreased reflexes.
