What are the pros and cons of Zoloft (sertraline)?
- Zoloft is one of the most effective SSRIs with the fewest side effects.
- There is less drowsiness with Zoloft than some other antidepressants.
- Zoloft is one of the antidepressants that can be used (with caution) in pregnant women.
- It can take up to 12 weeks for the full effect of Zoloft to develop.
- Zoloft has interactions with a long list of medications, but this is still less than some other SSRIs.
- Zoloft is more likely to cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea than other medications in the same class (SSRIs).
