Directions

Take this medication exactly as prescribed. Follow all directions on the prescription label and any medication guides if provided. The dose may be increased or decreased based on your response. Never take a larger or smaller amount than the prescribed dose.

Baclofen is usually taken 3 times a day, and you should take it at evenly spaced intervals. You can use a pillbox, alarm clock, or cell phone alert to remind you to take this medication.

If you take the oral suspension (liquid), shake the liquid well before measuring a dose. To get the most accurate dosing, use the dosing syringe, dose-measuring spoon, or medicine cup. These dosing devices are available at most pharmacies, and you can ask the pharmacy staff if you don’t have one.

Do not stop taking baclofen suddenly even if you start feeling better, as it can cause serious or even fatal withdrawal symptoms such as seizures, fever, confusion, muscle stiffness, or hallucinations. Your physician will provide instructions on how to taper down the dose.

Let your healthcare provider know if your muscle symptoms do not improve or if they worsen.

How should I take baclofen (Ozobax)?

Missed dose: Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose or take more than prescribed to make up for the missed dose.

Storage: Keep the medication in its original container; keep it tightly closed, out of reach of children, pets, and other people. Like any other medications dispensed only with prescriptions, you should not share it with anyone. Many people store their medicines in the bathroom; this is not recommended due to moisture and heat.

Unused medicine: Similar to other prescription medications, do not consume this medication after the expiration date. This medication is a prescription drug that is intended for your use only. Unneeded medication should be disposed of appropriately to prevent children, pets, and other people from getting to it. Your local pharmacy can provide you with information about medication drug take-back programs. You can also learn more about proper medication disposal
