Januvia Uses

Januvia, along with diet and exercise, is used to lower high blood sugar and achieve better glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Januvia is not used to treat patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Januvia Mechanism of Action

Januvia works by increasing insulin release in the body and decreasing glucose overproduction in the liver.

Januvia Doses

Januvia is available as a tablet in doses of 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg. The usual Januvia dose is 100 mg once daily by mouth.
