What are Augmentin (amoxicillin/clavulanate) side effects?

The most common side effects of Augmentin are listed below. Tell your doctor if these side effects are severe or do not go away in a few days.

  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Mild skin rash

Some adverse effects of Augmentin are more serious and require medical attention. Please stop taking Augmentin, contact your doctor, or get emergency medical treatment if you experience the following symptoms:

  • Severe skin rash, itching, hives (these could be signs of allergic reactions)
  • Difficulty swallowing or breathing, wheezing
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes
  • Vaginal itching or discharge

The above list may not include all the potential side effects of Augmentin. Talk to your doctor if you have severe side effects or if the side effects do not improve over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Augmentin Overdose: Contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately or call the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222 in case of an Augmentin overdose. Symptoms of an overdose may include vomiting, diarrhea, severe stomach pain, rash, and drowsiness.
