Allegra Tips from Pharmacists

  • Take Allegra with water. Avoid taking it with fruit juices as this can make the medicine less effective.

  • Take the dissolvable tablet of Allegra Allergy on an empty stomach. The other forms of the medicine can be taken with or without food.

  • Read the package instructions carefully and take the correct dose for your age. If your worst allergy symptoms do not improve on Allegra Allergy, consult a doctor for medical advice. Do not take extra doses of Allegra as this can lead to an overdose.

  • If you are taking antacids that contain magnesium or aluminum (Mylanta, Maalox, others), take them 30-60 minutes away from Allegra. Antacids like Tums do not interact with Allegra.

  • Although Allegra is a non-drowsy antihistamine, it can cause drowsiness and dizziness in some people. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything that requires focus until you know how Allegra affects you.
