-taking pain medications (e.g., codeine, morphine)
-undergoing surgery for stomach or intestinal blockage
-an unusual or allergic reaction to alvimopan, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
-pregnant or trying to get pregnant
-breast-feeding
