Ciclopirox Uses

Ciclopirox nail lacquer is a topical antifungal medicine. It is used to treat onychomycosis (fungal infection of the nails). Ciclopirox cream, gel, shampoo, and suspension are used to treat other fungal infections such as tinea corporis (ringworm), tinea pedis (athlete’s foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), and tinea (pityriasis) versicolor.

Ciclopirox Mechanism of Action

Ciclopirox stops the growth of the fungal cell.

Ciclopirox Doses

Topical ciclopirox nail lacquer comes as an 8% solution to be used once daily on the affected nail. It can take 6 months or more to improve affected nails. Ciclopirox may not cure nail fungus completely.
