  • You can take cyclobenzaprine with or without food. If you have trouble swallowing the capsules, you can empty the contents into soft food like applesauce. Consume the mixture immediately and drink some water afterward to ensure you swallow all the medicine.

  • Many people experience dry mouth on cyclobenzaprine. Sucking on ice chips or chewing gum can help with this side effect. You can also ask your pharmacist to recommend special lozenges or mouthwashes for dry mouth.

  • Cyclobenzaprine starts working pretty quickly. You don’t have to take this medicine on a regular schedule. It is effective even if you take it only as needed.

  • You should take cyclobenzaprine for short periods (2-3 weeks). Do not take this medicine for more than 3 weeks without talking to your healthcare provider.

  • Drinking alcohol while on cyclobenzaprine can worsen side effects such as drowsiness and dizziness. It is best to avoid alcohol while on this medicine.

  • Cyclobenzaprine can affect your ability to concentrate and focus. Be careful while driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery until you know how this drug affects you.
