Diclofenac Sodium Tips from Pharmacists

  • You can take diclofenac sodium with food or on an empty stomach. If you develop gastrointestinal side effects on this medicine, taking it with food might help.

  • Do not use any other diclofenac product other than the one prescribed by your healthcare provider. The different diclofenac products are not interchangeable because they are absorbed differently and need to be taken at different doses.

  • Diclofenac can increase your risk of bleeding. Tell your doctor without delay if you develop unusual bruising or bleeding while on this medicine.

  • Do not take diclofenac sodium with other NSAIDs like aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen or topical NSAIDs like diclofenac gel (Voltaren gel). This can increase your risk of stomach bleeds, heart attack, and stroke.
