Directions

How should I take Norvasc (amlodipine)?

Follow the medical advice of your physician regarding the dose and frequency. This medicine is to be taken orally (by mouth) with water. You can take Norvasc with or without food.

Follow the directions on your Norvasc prescription label. Take your medicine regularly at around the same time every day. Do not take more Norvasc or take it more frequently than prescribed. Do not stop Norvasc without talking to your doctor first.

Norvasc may be given to children aged 6 and above. Your child’s doctor will work out how much amlodipine (Norvasc) is suitable for your child. The dose will be mentioned on your child’s Norvasc prescription. Talk to the pediatrician about special care and precautions while using Norvasc in your child.

Missed dose: If you forget to take a dose of Norvasc, take the medicine as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose on schedule. Do not take extra Norvasc to make up for the missed medicine.

Storage: Store Norvasc tablets at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in a tightly closed container. Keep Norvasc out of reach of children. Amlodipine oral suspension (brand name Katerzia) should be refrigerated (between 2-8°C or 36-46° F)—do not freeze or expose the liquid to excessive heat.

Unused medicine: Throw away any unused Norvasc after the expiration date. Learn more about proper medication disposal
