What may interact with Omnipaque?

This medicine may interact with the following medications:

-beta-blockers like metoprolol and propranolol
-certain medicines for depression, anxiety, or psychotic disturbances
-MAOIs like Carbex, Eldepryl, Marplan, Nardil, and Parnate
-metformin
-phenothiazines like chlorpromazine, mesoridazine, prochlorperazine, thioridazine
-radioactive iodine

What should I tell my health care provider before I take Omnipaque?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

-dehydration
-diabetes
-heart disease
-history of blood diseases, like sickle cell anemia
-homocystinuria
-kidney disease
-lung or breathing disease, like asthma
-multiple myeloma
-pheochromocytoma
-thyroid disease
-an unusual or allergic reaction to iohexol, iodine, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
-pregnant or trying to get pregnant
-breast-feeding

What should I watch for while using Omnipaque?

Your condition will be monitored carefully while you are receiving this medicine.

This medicine may cause serious skin reactions. They can happen weeks to months after starting the medicine. Contact your health care provider right away if you notice fevers or flu-like symptoms with a rash. The rash may be red or purple and then turn into blisters or peeling of the skin. Or, you might notice a red rash with swelling of the face, lips or lymph nodes in your neck or under your arms.

Where should I keep my medicine?

This drug is given in a hospital or clinic and will not be stored at home.
