Pseudoephedrine Tips from Pharmacists

  • Take the last dose of pseudoephedrine several hours before bedtime. Taking this medicine too close to bedtime can cause trouble sleeping.

  • Call your doctor if you have a fever or your symptoms do not get better in 7 days.

  • Stop taking pseudoephedrine and call your doctor if you develop dizziness, difficulty sleeping, and nervousness. These are serious side effects. Your doctor may recommend some other treatment for your symptoms and/or request tests to diagnose some other medical condition that could be causing your symptoms.

  • Limit caffeine intake while on pseudoephedrine. Caffeine can worsen side effects like insomnia and increased heart rate and blood pressure.
