Triazolam (Halcion) Uses

Triazolam is used to treat insomnia (difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep). This medication is for short-term use only (7-10 days).

Triazolam (Halcion) Mechanism of Action

Triazolam slows activity in the brain, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.

Triazolam (Halcion) Doses

Triazolam comes as a 0.25 mg tablet. The usual dose is 0.25 mg once daily before bedtime. A lower dose of 0.125 mg may be used in older adults and people with low body weight. A higher dose of 0.5 mg daily may be prescribed if you do not respond to 0.25 mg daily. The maximum dose of triazolam is 0.5 mg per day.
