Jardiance (empagliflozin) Uses

Jardiance (empagliflozin) is a prescription oral medication used to lower blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medication is also used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death from heart attack and stroke in people with established cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Jardiance (empagliflozin) is not used to treat adults with type 1 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis.

There may be other uses of this medicine — your healthcare provider or pharmacist can provide medical advice and give you more empagliflozin drug information.

Jardiance (empagliflozin) Mechanism of Action

Jardiance (empagliflozin) works by preventing the reabsorption of glucose from the urine by the kidneys. In other words, it allows more urinary glucose excretion and thereby lowers blood sugar levels.

Jardiance (empagliflozin) Doses
