Olopatadine Uses

Olopatadine ophthalmic solution is used to treat ocular itching caused by allergic reactions to grass, pollen, ragweed, and pet dander.

There may be other uses of olopatadine. For example, patients taking nasal olopatadine (nasal spray) do so for relief of an itchy, stuffy, or runny nose related to seasonal allergic rhinitis. Your healthcare professional or pharmacist can give you further drug information.

Olopatadine Mechanism of Action

Olopatadine acts by preventing the release of a primary inflammatory mediator (a substance that causes eye itching) from human conjunctival mast cells.

Olopatadine Doses

Olopatadine 0.1% eye drop should be placed one drop in each eye twice a day. Olopatadine (0.2% and 0.7% eye drops) should be placed one drop in each eye once a day.
