What may interact with Veltassa?

Take other oral medicines 3 hours before or 3 hours after this medicine.

What should I tell my health care provider before I take Veltassa?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

-blockage in your bowel
-dry, hard stool that will not pass out of your rectum
-history of low levels of magnesium in the blood
-problems with your bowels after surgery
-severe constipation
-an unusual or allergic reaction to patiromer, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
-pregnant or trying to get pregnant
-breast-feeding

What should I watch for while using Veltassa?

Tell your doctor or healthcare professional if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse.

This medicine may cause constipation. Try to have a bowel movement at least every 2 to 3 days. If you do not have a bowel movement for 3 days, call your doctor or health care professional.

You may need blood work done while you are taking this medicine.

Where should I keep my medicine?

Keep out of the reach of children.

Store in the refrigerator between 2 and 8 degrees C (36 to 46 degrees F). If stored at room temperature, use within 3 months of being taken out of the refrigerator. Avoid exposure to heat above 40 degrees C (104 degrees F). Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
