What should I tell my health care provider before I take Bentyl
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
-Esophagus problems or heartburn
-Glaucoma
-Heart disease or previous heart attack
-Myasthenia gravis
-Prostate trouble
-Stomach infection or obstruction
-Trouble passing urine
-Ulcerative colitis
-An unusual or allergic reaction to dicyclomine, other medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives
-Pregnant or trying to get pregnant
-Breastfeeding
What should I watch for while using Bentyl?
Your condition will be monitored carefully while you are receiving this medication.
This medication may affect your coordination, reaction time, or judgment. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you. Sit up or stand slowly to reduce the risk of dizzy or fainting spells. Drinking alcohol with this medication can increase the risk of these side effects.
Stay out of bright light and wear sunglasses if this medication makes your eyes more sensitive to light.
Avoid extreme heat (hot tubs, saunas). This medication can cause you to sweat less than normal. Your body temperature could increase to dangerous levels, which may lead to heat stroke.
Your mouth may get dry. Chewing sugarless gum or sucking hard candy and drinking plenty of water may help.
Where should I keep my medicine?
This medication is given in a hospital or clinic and will not be stored at home.
