Cinacalcet (Sensipar) Side Effects
The most common side effects of cinacalcet are listed below. Tell your healthcare provider if these side effects are severe or persistent:
- Stomach upset
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Weakness
- Dizziness
Rarely, cinacalcet can cause more serious side effects. Call your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical care if you develop the following symptoms:
- Tingling, burning, or other unusual sensations in the hands, feet, or tongue
- Sudden tightening of the muscles in the hands, feet, throat, or face
- Muscle cramps or muscle aches
- Infection at the dialysis access site
- Seizures
The above list may not include all the potential side effects of cinacalcet. Contact your healthcare provider if your side effects are unusual or severe or do not get better over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Cinacalcet (Sensipar) Overdose: In case of an overdose of cinacalcet, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 or emergency services if a person has collapsed, cannot breathe, has had a seizure, or cannot be awakened. Signs and symptoms of an overdose may include the above-listed serious side effects.
