What should I tell my health care provider before I take EMPAVELI?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

-infection
-an unusual or allergic reaction to pegcetacoplan, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives
-pregnant or trying to get pregnant breast-feeding

What should I watch for while using EMPAVELI?

Visit your health care provider for regular checks on your progress. Tell your health care provider if your symptoms do not start to get better or if they get worse.
This medicine increases the risk for serious infections. This includes infections such as meningitis and pneumonia. Some vaccines can help reduce this risk. Talk to your health care provider about any vaccines you might need. Report any signs of infection to your health care provider at once.
Your condition will be monitored carefully while you are receiving this medicine.
You may need blood work while you are taking this medicine.

Where should I keep my medicine?

Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
Store it in the refrigerator. Keep it in the original carton until you are ready to take it. Remove the dose from the carton about 30 minutes before it is time for you to take it. Protect from light. Get rid of any unused medicine after the expiration date.
To get rid of medicines that are no longer needed or have expired:

-Take the medicine to a medicine take-back program. Check with your pharmacy or law enforcement to find a location.
-If you cannot return the medicine, ask your pharmacist or health care provider how to get rid of this medicine safely.
