  • There are sugar-free versions of guaifenesin for diabetics (brand names Diabetic Siltussin DAS-Na and Diabetic Tussin Mucus Relief).

  • Guaifenesin is an expectorant that is used to clear mucus. It does not work well for dry coughs. 
  • Taking guaifenesin is not safe for children younger than 4 years old.
