Ketorolac Uses

Ketorolac ophthalmic solution is used to provide relief from pain and inflammation following ocular surgery. It is also used to provide temporary relief from itching caused by seasonal allergies (allergic conjunctivitis).

Ketorolac Mechanism of Action

Ketorolac works by stopping the release of prostaglandins, which are substances that cause inflammation and allergy symptoms.

Ketorolac Doses

Ketorolac ophthalmic solution is available in a strength of 0.5%. The usual dose is one drop of ketorolac to the affected eye four times a day for relief of eye itching caused by seasonal allergic conjunctivitis. To treat postoperative pain and inflammation after cataract surgery, the dose of ketorolac is one drop in the affected eye four times a day, starting 24 hours after a cataract procedure and continuing for 2 weeks.
