- Runny nose
- Cold hands or feet

Some of the adverse effects of metoprolol tartrate are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you experience serious symptoms such as:
- Shortness of breath or wheezing
- Rapid or pounding heartbeat
- Swelling of the hands, lower legs, ankles, or feet
- Fainting
- Weight gain
