Mirtazapine (Remeron) Side Effects

Possible side effects of mirtazapine are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they are severe or if they do not go away in a few days.

  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Dry mouth
  • Constipation
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Anxiety
  • Confusion
  • Increased appetite and weight gain

Some of the adverse effects of mirtazapine (Remeron) are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical attention if you experience any of the following signs and symptoms:

  • Severe rash, itching, hives (allergic reaction)
  • Flu-like symptoms (fever, chills, mouth sores, sore throat, or other signs of infection)
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Chest pain
  • Seizures
  • Eye pain, swelling, redness, or vision changes such as seeing colored rings around lights

Mirtazapine Overdose: In case of an overdose of mirtazapine, call your doctor immediately. You can also call the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Overdose symptoms may include drowsiness, severe weakness, and a fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeat.
