Mupirocin Side Effects

Possible side effects of mupirocin are listed below. Tell your doctor if these side effects are severe or do not go away in a few days.

  • Burning and stinging in the infected area
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Diarrhea
  • Stomach pain

Rarely, mupirocin can cause more serious unwanted side effects such as an unusual or allergic reaction. Stop using mupirocin ointment and seek immediate medical help if you develop:

  • Skin rash, hives, itching
  • Fever
  • Swelling
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
