  • Neomycin-polymyxin B-dexamethasone is a combination of three medicines and is convenient to use.
  • It contains two antibiotics that kill bacteria and a steroid that suppresses the inflammatory response.
  • There is usually a noticeable improvement in symptoms after 1-2 days of using this topical eye medicine.
  • It is available as a lower-cost generic.

  • You need to use this eye medicine multiple times a day.
  • It can cause temporary blurred vision and eye irritation.
  • Neomycin, polymyxin B, and dexamethasone are only effective against bacterial infections. This combination will not treat a viral or fungal eye infection.
  • Long-term use (more than 10 days) can increase the risk of glaucoma and requires regular eye checks to measure intraocular pressure.
