Ozempic Pros and Cons

  • You only need to take Ozempic once a week.
  • It’s easy to switch your weekly injection day. Make sure the two consecutive doses are at least 48 hours (2 days) apart when switching days.
  • Ozempic can help with blood sugar control and weight loss. It can reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events like heart attack and stroke in people at high cardiovascular risk.
  • An opened Ozempic pen does not need to be refrigerated - it can be stored at room temperature.

  • Ozempic injections must be given under the skin. If you don’t understand the manufacturer’s instructions, ask your pharmacist or healthcare professional to show you how to administer the injections using the correct technique.
  • There is a risk of low blood sugar in people who are on other oral diabetes medications and/or insulin as well as Ozempic.
  • This medication cannot be used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
  • There is no low-cost generic version available for Ozempic.
